What happens when a love for art meets a desire to make a difference? Orphan Art was born from that very question.
Formerly known as Hues and Stencils, Orphan Art recently hosted its second art outreach, partnering with Nyamedua Orphanage Home to provide meaningful support while creating opportunities for children to create and be inspired through art.
The idea began with Founder and Chief Curator Vera Amaning, who had a lightbulb moment while attending her primary school art teacher’s solo debut exhibition. She realised that instead of simply visiting an orphanage with a one-time donation, she could use art to engage children, inspire creativity and provide meaningful support – all in one experience.
For this year’s outreach, Nyamedua Orphanage was selected as the partner organisation, with support focused on essential needs including basic medical supplies, foodstuff, clothing and other necessities.
The outreach was about more than donations. It was about connecting with the children and showing them that their community believes in them.
There are many ways to support the journey – from purchasing artwork and donating art supplies to volunteering as a mentor or sponsoring an exhibition.
Because when art has purpose, its impact extends far beyond the canvas.
